WIRELESS INTERNET NETWORK IN CHICO & PARADISE
AVAILABLE NOW! HIGH SPEED INTERNET AT OVER 50 PUBLIC LOCATIONS!

Chico, CA: December 1st, 2007
Community Network Wi-Fi is celebrating its expansion to over 50 locations in Chico & Paradise providing free wireless internet for the public.  With the recent addition of several more locations, an extensive network of Hot Spots provides free Internet access for anyone with a computer and Wi-Fi capability in Chico & Paradise.

The service is a broadband wireless signal named “Community Wi-Fi,” and is conveniently located for ease-of-use by the general public. The network has been built in stages and is now live and fully functional. To connect, users need only look for the signal name (SSID) “Community Wi-Fi” and hook up using the software that controls their wireless access. No added software, username or password is required to connect. The system is on 24/7 for all.  The locations are listed on the Community Network Wi-Fi website at: www.comnetwifi.com and people can use our system for access to the Internet just as they would at home or work.

“Our basic philosophy is to allow the internet to benefit the local community.  The network is funded privately by outstanding local business sponsors right here in our own community, such as Butte Community Bank, Butte College and Western Business Products,” said Kevin Schatz from Community Network Wi-Fi.  “This way everybody wins; the community gets a valuable resource (the Internet) for free, and the Hot Spot providers and business sponsors get the recognition for making it all possible.  The sponsoring businesses and organizations receive advertising banners that are displayed along with the free internet available though Community Network Wi-Fi.  This is a grass-roots effort done entirely without taxpayer money.  It is truly a service “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”  We cover much of downtown Chico and other popular spots. Our aim is to stimulate a stronger local economy, and then to give back to our community and others that have needs as well.

Community Network Wi-Fi donates 10% of their profits to various charities.  "So far, our giving has been to help orphans in war-torn Liberia (Africa), as well as to local charities such as the Jesus Center here in Chico," said Kevin.  "Our practice is to give generously both locally and worldwide to those who are most in need.
